Woke up with symptoms of Strep Throat, something I’ve suffered from a lot ever since I was a kid. Scheduling was easy. Wait time was practically non-existent. Nurse was very nice and patient as I struggled to speak with a swollen throat. Doctor was with me quickly. Very friendly and nice. Nurse did my swab for quick testing. My test came back negative, but they prescribed me medications anyways. I asked if they could run a lab on my swab, because my swab test for Strep has always come back negative ever since I was a child. Doctor refused to do so and said they were treating it like Tonsillitis instead. Sent me on my way without asking if I needed a doctor’s note; had to reenter the building to get my doctor’s note written for my two jobs. Doctor prescribed antibiotics, but also prescribed me cough drops for throat pain. Cough drops aren’t meant for throat pain, and I’m not coughing.

I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Labcorp for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Recent Blood Test Reviews (20)

I had a paramedic doing my blood draw. I wasn’t sure if he was in training or doing a recertification. At any rate, Doretha was in the background giving him guidance and at the same time assuring me non-verbally that everything was going well. Her professional demeanor was most impressive. She didn’t embarrass him or undermine him, but she also didn’t ignore my needs as the patient.

The lady who drew my blood was very condescending to me over a mix-up with my orders. She kept repeating that I needed to do something different, when I’m reality it was neither my fault nor theirs. She continued to scold me and overall I did not feel well with her drawing my blood. The lady who checked me I was very nice and very helpful

Everyone was very nice and professional and the PA I saw ( sorry can’t remember her name ) was wonderful and advised me to find an primary care doctor and ob doctor to follow up with more blood work to try to find why I am having fever and night sweats but very professional employees and very kind

This was a very good experience. My only complaint was that I wanted to schedule an appointment online & the app would only allow me to schedule Wednesdays & Saturdays. My physical was today (Monday) & I wanted the associated blood draw today also. So I waited in line; fortunately not many people were there this morning unlike my last appointment day.

- Verified patient on 11/22

They got me back fast, the cavity was clean & welcoming, and both providers were wonderful. I almost didn’t even realize I was getting my blood drawn (not one of my favorite things to do). They really did a great job!

We went to the same clinic 2 weeks ago, and the Room had bloody gauze on the floor and in the trash can. We had an appointment and waited for 1hour an 50 minutes waited well over an hour to see the doctor and then another 45 minutes to get dismissed. Today's experience was much improved! Dr. Reddack (not sure how you spell her name -worked in Waco previously)was extremely courteous and professional, as was the Male nurse! I didn't think we would ever go back after the previous visit, but i'm glad we gave it a second chance, I just hope they can clean better and you keep this Dr. The bloody sink, gauze and overflowing bloody trashcan has to violate health codes and safety.

The staff at the front desk was very kind and respectful. I didn’t wait long to be seen by the nursing staff or the doctor. And the nurse who did my blood draw was incredible, she made sure I was comfortable and laughing the entire time.

Everyone was very respectful and cared about how I was . They evenough wanted to Cala ambulance for me because they said I was so sick On the other hand once getting to the hospital and staying for 7 hours they said my kidneys were not working right and just because I have COVID and kidney problems that is not A medical necessity For me to be admitted to the hospital. At one time my oxygen level was at 70 and was sounding off for like 5 minutes before the came in my blood pressures was70/54 they asked me how did I feel and I told them dizzy and just not feeling right. At that point they reset the messages and left . I also had to ask if they could unhook all my Leeds on me so I could go to the restroom it was 8:30 and I had been there since 1:30 . After 4 more times of asking for help I told them I was going to undo it my self and go ! Well after that they were there in less than 5 min.she was The nicest person that helped me is the lady that was doing the nuclear cat- scan I’m me ! The only thing they sent me hope with was 20 Tessa pearls and Medicine for nausea

All the ladies here are absolutely amazing. With everything I have been through with my health it’s nice to get smiles and kindness esp when I don’t particularly like having my blood drawn they make it much easier to get through

I walked in and was registered in under 5 minutes. Less than 2 minutes later, the technician came to get me. They were very friendly but professional. It took less than 10 minutes to get my blood drawn, and I was on my way!

I arrived at the compunet at upper valley hospital at 8:35a. The parking lot was completely empty. I went to the door labeled compunet (and upper valley). The doors were locked. I could not attend my appointment bc they were closed which put me in a complete panic, as I work mon through Friday and specifically scheduled this sat appt due to my work hours. I drove over to the Dorset location and explained the situation to the receptionist. She was very kind and understanding. She honored my appt time at their location and moved me to the front of the wait. The tech that took my blood was super apologetic and also thought it was bizarre. She again empathized with the situation and was kind and quick with her services. I recommend that the corporate level look into what happened with the upper valley location. My five star ratings are based on the Dorset location bc those ladies were so kind. The upper valley location gets no stars bc they weren’t open and i have a confirmation that says see you at 8:40 on May 15. Thank you.

I was impressed by the lady that signed me in and the one that took my blood! She took it so fast and easy and I didn’t even feel it! I’ve had some hurt and not get it on the first time in the past! I was very pleased!!

Emma once again did literally perfect drawing blood. I usually don’t look at the needles but this time I peeked a little and didn’t even feel the poke! Shelby is such a sweetheart and made me feel very comfortable. Patricia is always so friendly and welcoming. Absolutely love the staff at CompuNet and would recommend these wonderful ladies to everyone!!!

When I hear friends’ reports from around the country, even on just having some blood taken for tests, I AM SO GLAD I LIVE IN OHIO, and Springfield particularly. They do it right, here. And all behind a mask. When I left, after maybe 20 min RT, and passed the main counter on way out, and the ladies glanced up to say bye, I said, ‘Man, if only everything was that easy!’

Im 36 years old and is terrified of needles I put this off for weeks because I didn't want nobody messing with me and not being able to get my vein or poking me two or three times Lisa the one that Drew my blood did it within seconds and it felt like a little pinch she was amazing I never had such a great experience with somebody that took my blood if I ever have to get my blood taken again believe I will come looking for Lisa she's amazing and definitely deserves a promotion for how good she is she's all around the best phlebotomist I've ever seen or ever came across she definitely needs recognized!!!!💕👍💯 Thanks for the great service The faculty was clean I was in there and out and she was very friendly and very well at what she does I'm not letting anybody but Lee said touch me anymore I found my new phlebotomist thanks again! The whole staff was very professional. The wait time was a little excessive but of course I get that it's going to be like that sometimes. I had blood work done and dr. Tran knew exactly what what's wrong, prescribed the correct medications and made my day a whole lot better. Thank you to you and your staff. Keep up the good work

Great. I am usually a hard stick taking 2-3 tries. Today she got me first try! That always makes for a wonderful experience. I'm so sorry I can't remember the name of the lab tech who drew my blood but I'm sure you can find out and add it to my text.

My wait time was longer than normal. Was in the office an hour total. The gal who did my blood draw was the only one in the office. She was very busy but was handling it quite well even stopping to help and older lady check in because she wasn't comfortable with technology.

I was at the SouthMed PSC facility. It was around 10 am and I was fasting. I was also a self/pay patient which I had just found out after countless phone calls over 2 months of figuring out insurance and such. I say all this to drive home the point that often there is little in terms of resolve and resources by the time a patient walks up to the front desk - today I certainly was one of those patients. Without Tina’s pleasant demeanor, patient guidance (on the self-pay paper work and protocol), impeccable manners and courtesy at the front desk, I know I would have had to walk away, as it took approx 38 mins to figure everything out from the time I walked in the door to the time we drew blood. It was thanks to Tina (& then Madison who later collaborated with her) that the 38 mins were a breeze and a welcome breath of fresh air. I wish someone from Training or HR had watched Tina in action. People like Tina ensure there is no substitute for the personal touch and THIS is all that is left to differentiate us from Artificial Intelligence who can do the job just as well if not better. So glad to see that thanks to Tina AI continues to fall short of perfection that can only come from a live (& conscientious) human factor. Tina - one more time, THANK YOU.

About Blood Tests

Blood tests are used as valuable snapshots of your current overall health and can be an effective way of catching illness or disease early, or measuring how you are reacting to new or on-going treatment. There are a variety of types of blood work with most common tests being complete blood counts (CBC), complete and basic metabolic panels (CMP, BMP), thyroid panels, nutrient tests, and sexually transmitted disease (STD) tests.

Each of these blood tests are fairly common and can be performed in a variety of settings including testing labs, primary care offices, urgent care centers, and even retail clinics and some pharmacies. Solv even has clinic partners in the Piqua-area that offer online scheduling, allowing you to book a visit convenient to your schedule and skip the wait. The tests themselves take only a few minutes and usually are performed by a nurse or technician where they:

  1. Clean the area where they will draw blood from, usually your upper arm
  2. Tie a band to your upper arm to make your veins more visible
  3. Put a needle gently into a vein to draw blood into the attached tube
  4. Remove the needle, then the band from the vein when complete
  5. Cover the draw site with a bandage

Risks associated with blood work are very low, but could possibly include slight pain or discomfort at the draw site, dizziness or even fainting from blood loss, or vein puncture. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have with your medical provider before the procedure begins.

  • Who should get a blood test?

Blood tests provide a valuable look at your overall health and blood work should be done at least once a year. They offer a great way to catch illness or disease early on, or see how you are progressing with on-going treatment. Your doctor or healthcare provider typically orders blood tests for you during an annual physical or as necessary for a specific diagnosis. It’s possible to order your own blood tests without a doctor, particularly for things like STD tests or hemoglobin A1c tests.

  • Are video visits available for blood work in Piqua?

While a blood test cannot be performed over video, your doctor can both initially prescribe blood tests using telemedicine, and review results with you virtually.

  • How much does a blood test cost in Piqua?

Without insurance, blood work typically costs between $50 to $1,000, or sometimes more depending on the specific tests and the provider type you are having the tests performed at. At-home tests are available in most areas and could cost substantially less. Book a consultation with a lab testing provider in Piqua today to get more details on the specific blood work you are looking for.

  • How long do blood tests take?

Blood tests can be performed either in-office or performed on samples that are sent to an outside lab. The collection itself should only take a few minutes, and the results could be ready within a few hours or up to one to two weeks depending on the test you are getting done. Once you’ve received your results, your doctor can discuss them with you either in-person, on the phone, or through a video visit.

  • Is blood work covered by my insurance?

Most common blood tests are covered under insurance plans, particularly when your doctor orders them as part of an annual physical or supporting a diagnosis. If you are self prescribing the test, however, it may not be covered by insurance. If you have questions about your specific insurance coverage, it is best to contact your carrier or your provider.
