My worse nightmare of needing an urgent care visit on a Saturday at 6pm. Surprisingly I found Carbon Health Urgent Care with several appointments available. The checkin as a first visit was so easy and I was seen IMMEDIATELY. The physician was attentive, thorough and so friendly. The checkout was amazing, she helped me find a 24 hour pharmacy to get my prescription

Had eye difficulty and when we contacted your urgent care facility we specifically asked if you had the equipment to test an eye and was informed that you had it. However, when we went there, that was not the case.

The PA was kind and non alarming!  I didn’t feel that way with the previous visit 2 days before! She explained things carefully, so I understood what I was dealing with and prescribed the correct medication! The previous PA told me I would get a call with the results of my urine  test, but I never got that call and my antibiotics needed to be changed. I developed a fever and came in again! Not sure why I never got that call???

About Hepatitis test

Who should get tested for hepatitis?

According to the CDC, anyone who has been exposed to blood or body fluids of an infected person, has had unprotected sex with an infected person, or has shared needles with an infected person should get tested for hepatitis. Additionally, if you were born between 1945 and 1965, are a healthcare or public safety worker who has been exposed to blood on the job, or are a current or former injection drug user, testing is also recommended.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for hepatitis is crucial as it can lead to serious health problems if left untreated, including liver damage, liver cancer, and liver failure. Early detection and treatment can prevent these complications and improve the quality of life for those infected. Furthermore, knowing your status can help prevent the spread of the virus to others.

Hepatitis testing options in Vernon, CA:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care and walk-in clinics in Vernon, CA, such as Carbon Health in nearby Los Angeles, offer hepatitis testing. These clinics often have shorter wait times than traditional doctor's offices and can provide same-day results. Appointments can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for hepatitis testing. They can offer comprehensive care and follow-up treatment if necessary. However, it's important to check with your provider about the cost of testing and whether it's covered by your insurance.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers in and around Vernon, such as Rume Health in Huntington Beach, also offer free or low-cost hepatitis testing. These centers are a vital resource for those without insurance or those who cannot afford the cost of testing at a private clinic.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are another option for those who prefer privacy or cannot travel to a clinic. These kits can be ordered online, used in the comfort of your own home, and then sent back to a lab for testing.

Prevalence of hepatitis in Vernon

Vernon is part of Los Angeles County, which according to the CDC, has a higher prevalence of hepatitis compared to other nearby counties like San Diego County and Orange County. The exact number of cases in Vernon is not readily available, but the trend in Los Angeles County suggests a significant number of residents could be affected.

Risk factors related to hepatitis in Vernon

Risk factors for hepatitis in Vernon are similar to those in other parts of the country. These include unprotected sex, sharing needles, and exposure to infected blood or body fluids. Other factors that could contribute to the spread of hepatitis in Vernon include a high rate of drug use and a lack of access to healthcare services.

Other STDs in Vernon

In addition to hepatitis, other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, and syphilis are also prevalent in Vernon. Like hepatitis, these STDs can lead to serious health complications if left untreated. Testing for these STDs is also available at the same locations mentioned above.
