My son presented with cold symptoms so I made him and appointment online. Making the appointment was easy, but once we arrived for the appointment we waited about 30 or 45 minutes for weight check and to be taken back to a room. Once in room we waited for another 20-30 minutes for the nurse to come in an ask why we were there and to take temperature and blood pressure. She left and we waited another 20 minutes for the provider to come in. She didn’t seem confident in her ability to find out what was wrong with my son. I felt like she did a very very general check over him and then came to the conclusion she wasn’t sure what was going on. We did do a Covid, Flu, and RSV test which took another 25 minutes to do and complete. Overall I would not recommend coming back to this clinic in person. I might do the virtual part next time. Overall, I feel like I wasted 3 hours today and still had a sick kid.

I was feeling awful. The receptionist was my first encounter.. Absolutely proficient and caring. The Nurse was my next encounter, she was outstanding!! Ensured I was comfortable and provided water as I was coughing so much. The provider actually carefully listened to what i said. Not just in a hurry and brushing me off. She took the time to explain test results and plan of care going forward.. This was my second visit here.. Love it!

Dr. Chroma Okechukwu, is the most amazing caring physician. In my 47 years I've never met such a wonderful physician. She was there in my moment of anxiety when I couldn't breathe due to Allergies, influenza and acute asthma. She calmed me down instantly and started me on treatment. Today I followed up with her and I'm feeling 80% better. Entire staff is amazing. Thank you Dr you are on of a kind.

About Lead Testing

Lead Testing is a diagnostic test used to measure the levels of lead in the blood. Lead is a toxic metal that can have harmful effects on various body systems, especially in children, pregnant women, and individuals with occupational lead exposure. This test is essential for early detection and prevention of lead poisoning.

Who Should Get Tested

If you reside in Georgetown, Texas, and have risk factors for lead exposure or suspect lead poisoning, Lead Testing is recommended. Risk factors may include living in an older home with lead-based paint, working in lead-related industries, or having a history of pica (ingesting non-food items) in children.

Lead Testing in Children

In children, Lead Testing is especially crucial as lead exposure can cause developmental delays, learning difficulties, and behavioral problems. Children should be screened for lead exposure at ages 1 and 2 years, and more frequently if they are at higher risk.

Testing Methods

Lead Testing is typically performed using a small blood sample, usually obtained from a fingerstick or venipuncture. Blood samples are then sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Interpreting the Results

The interpretation of Lead Testing results is based on the concentration of lead in the blood. Lead levels are measured in micrograms per deciliter (μg/dL). Elevated lead levels indicate lead exposure, and additional testing and interventions may be needed to address lead poisoning.

Preventing Lead Exposure

Preventing lead exposure is essential for protecting individuals from the harmful effects of lead poisoning. Measures to reduce lead exposure include:

  • Regular inspection and maintenance of homes with lead-based paint
  • Proper handwashing and personal hygiene, especially for children
  • Using lead-safe practices in occupations with potential lead exposure
  • Ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet to reduce lead absorption

Following the Test

If Lead Testing indicates elevated lead levels, healthcare providers will work with individuals and families to identify the source of lead exposure and implement necessary interventions to reduce exposure and prevent lead poisoning.

Early detection and prevention through Lead Testing are critical in protecting the health and well-being of individuals, especially children, from the harmful effects of lead exposure.
