I have been a patient at MPFC for about 15 years. My provider, Dr Gaskill is excellent. She listens to my concerns and answers my questionIs in a way I can understand. I have been impressed with the entire staff from front desk to accounting as well as the "Portal" experience. The quick response, attention to detail and overall customer service keeps me coming back year after year. I would highly recommend MPFC to anyone looking for a new medical clinic and knowledgable team.

Exceptional service, from the front desk staff to the Doctor, I really couldn't say more. I can't remember a physician being more thorough and compassionate! I really can't say enough about this office. I've been to several other Urgent Cares, including First Care and Providence Express Care, and they were worlds apart. The wait time was short, the billing process was effortless, and they had medication on hand so I didn't have to go to the pharmacy, which for me was really just the icing on the cake!

Overview of STD Testing in Eagle River

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). This is particularly important for those who have multiple sexual partners, engage in unprotected sex, or have a partner who has tested positive for an STD. According to the CDC, it's recommended that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. Those with specific risk factors may need more frequent testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining good sexual health. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning you may not experience any symptoms but can still spread the disease to others. Early detection through testing can prevent complications and long-term health problems, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV infection. Moreover, most STDs are treatable, and many are curable, so testing is the first step towards getting appropriate treatment and preventing transmission.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or with limited financial resources, free STD testing may be available at community health centers. These centers often provide services on a sliding fee scale based on income.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are another option for those who prefer privacy or cannot visit a clinic. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available online within a few days.

Eagle River, located in Anchorage Municipality County, AK, has seen a steady increase in STD cases over the years, consistent with national trends.
