Took a spill and feared a broken bone in my hand. South Huron Urgent Care took great care of me. Waited about five minutes to be seen. Dr Cindy is great!! X-rayed, splinted and I'm ready to go, with follow up instructions that she went over with me.  She showed me the x-ray, and explained what was going on. They took time and care with me. Office staff is friendly and personable too. Highly recommend!!

Overview of STD Testing in Ann Arbor

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs. This is particularly important for those with multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use protection during sexual activity, or individuals who have been sexually assaulted. According to the CDC, certain groups are at a higher risk for STDs, such as young people aged 15-24 and men who have sex with men. However, it's important to remember that anyone can contract an STD, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a crucial part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs do not show symptoms in the early stages, but can lead to serious health problems if left untreated. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of complications. It also helps prevent the spread of these diseases, protecting both you and your sexual partners.

Std testing options in Ann Arbor, MI:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics provide convenient options for STD testing in Ann Arbor. These facilities often offer same-day appointments, reducing the waiting time for testing and results. Michigan Urgent Care and Prognify Urgent Care are two highly rated options in the area, with over 2000 positive reviews each. Both are accessible through Solv's website and mobile app, allowing for easy booking of appointments.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. If you have a regular doctor or healthcare provider, they can often provide testing services or refer you to a specialist if necessary. This option may be preferable for those who are comfortable discussing their sexual health with their regular doctor and prefer a more personal approach to their healthcare.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those facing financial constraints, free STD testing is available at community health centers in Ann Arbor. These centers provide vital healthcare services to those who may not otherwise be able to afford them. It's important to check with each center for their testing schedule and any eligibility requirements.

At-home testing

At-home testing kits provide another convenient option for STD testing. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. This option provides a high level of privacy and convenience, but it's important to ensure the test is from a reputable source to ensure accuracy.

Prevalence of STDs in Ann Arbor

According to the CDC, the prevalence of STDs in Ann Arbor, located in Washtenaw County, is reflective of the national trend, with rates of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis on the rise. Compared to nearby counties such as Lawrence, Crawford, Mercer, Beaver, and Erie, Washtenaw County's STD rates are slightly higher. This could be due to a variety of factors, including population density and access to healthcare services.
