Great discreet service, scheduled my visit and paid for for the test online not in Showed up at lab, checked in and was seen within minutes. Blood and urine were collected, test results came back quickly within 2 days because I did my test on a Friday. Quick, easy and cheap. Didn't have to wait for a visit to my PCP, and then get referral to lab.

Because my doctor's office is not open all week, I have used the services of Salem Health Urgent Care several times. Until the COVID pandemic, I know they took walkins but I found that by making an appointment my wait time was never more than 5 mins. From the receptionist to the doctors/nurse practioners to the lab staff all have all been professional and spent the time to make a thorough exam and explain my recommended treatment. Prescriptions were promptly sent to my pharmacy so they were ready when I got there. I love my own doctor but having this urgent care there when he is not available and not having to go to the emergency room for help is a great relief and I appreciate each and everyone that works there.

Always a pleasant experience. I recommend this clinic to anyone. My girls have been going there since birth and are now graduating. My senior from last year didn't want to get a new doctor and go elsewhere. Great customer service and doctors and nurses.

On vacation I experienced fever and chills, looked up urgent care in Salem OR. This was rated the highest. While I thought I had strep throat, swab came out negatively so the PA stated that I had a virus. However, I walked out with a bag full of items to help with feeling sick. She said the swab will get sent to a lab, if it comes out positive she'll call me to get the name of a pharmacy for antibiotics.

Overview of STD Testing in Salem

Who should get tested for STDs?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing. This includes individuals who are in monogamous relationships, as STDs can remain dormant for years before showing any symptoms. Particularly, individuals between the ages of 15 and 24, who account for half of the 20 million new STD infections that occur in the United States each year, should get tested regularly. Furthermore, those with multiple sexual partners, men who have sex with men, and pregnant women should also consider regular testing.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial for maintaining both individual and public health. Many STDs are asymptomatic, meaning they show no signs or symptoms. If left untreated, these infections can lead to serious health complications such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of these complications. Moreover, it helps to prevent the spread of these diseases, contributing to healthier communities.

You can book same-day and next-day appointments at this location through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another option for STD testing. These healthcare professionals can provide testing as part of a regular check-up, or you can schedule an appointment specifically for STD testing.

Free STD testing and community health centers

At-home testing

At-home testing kits are a convenient option for those who prefer privacy. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are typically available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Salem

According to the CDC, Marion County, where Salem is located, has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years. This trend mirrors the national trend, with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis being the most commonly reported STDs. The rise in STD rates may be attributed to various factors, including increased testing and changes in sexual behavior.

Risk factors related to STDs in Salem

Several risk factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in Salem. These include a high rate of unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and a lack of regular testing. Additionally, certain demographic groups, such as young adults and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk. Efforts to control the spread of STDs in Salem should focus on promoting safe sex practices, regular testing, and treatment for those infected.
