My husband and I both were treated simultaneously for cold/flu/Covid s/s. The staff and Jennifer, NP, went above and beyond in their delivery of care. Both of us are medical professionals (a MD and RN) and are extremely knowledgeable of treatment options/procedures. We were very satisfied with the care received at City Doc!w

I woke up and the side of my face was swollen, under my eye and down my jawline.  Made an appointment online, staff was nice and very accommodating.  A little wait for the Dr. but that was okay because he was able to diagnose the problem and explained what was needed to get better.

Overview of STD Testing in McKinney

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially those with multiple sexual partners or those who engage in unprotected sex. According to the CDC, certain groups are at a higher risk, including young people aged 15-24, men who have sex with men, and pregnant women. It's crucial to remember that many STDs do not show symptoms, so regular testing is essential to ensure you're not unknowingly carrying or transmitting an infection.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a key component of maintaining your overall health. Early detection can prevent serious complications like infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased susceptibility to HIV. Regular testing also helps stop the spread of STDs, protecting your partners and the wider community.

Std testing options in McKinney, TX:

Urgent care and walk-in clinics

Urgent care centers and walk-in clinics offer convenient, same-day STD testing. Highly rated options in McKinney include Baylor Scott & White Partner and CommunityMed Family Urgent Care. These locations offer a range of testing options and can provide immediate treatment if necessary. Appointments can be booked through Solv's website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Primary care providers are another reliable option for STD testing. They can provide comprehensive sexual health services, including testing, treatment, and advice on prevention. However, availability might be limited compared to urgent care centers.

Free STD testing and community health centers

Community health centers often provide free or low-cost STD testing, making them a valuable resource for those without insurance or those seeking confidential testing. However, these centers may have longer wait times due to high demand.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing kits are a private and convenient option. These kits can be ordered online, used at home, and then sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in McKinney

McKinney, located in Collin County, TX, has seen a steady increase in STD rates over the past few years, mirroring national trends. According to the CDC, the most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. While McKinney's STD rates are lower than those in nearby counties like Hill County and Caddo Parish, they are still a cause for concern.

Risk factors related to STDs in McKinney

Several factors contribute to the prevalence of STDs in McKinney. These include a lack of comprehensive sexual education, limited access to healthcare services, and social stigma around STD testing. Additionally, certain demographic groups, such as young people and men who have sex with men, are at a higher risk. It's important to note that anyone who is sexually active can get an STD, and regular testing is the best way to detect and treat these infections early.
