I came in one day without an appoint and waited two hours as a walk-in before I had to leave without being tested. I made an appointment through Labcorp for the next day, showed up on time, got tested easily and was on my way in 15-20 minutes. Staff is friendly and helpful.

A great experience for something I had a lot of anxiety about. Had no wait time or issues at the testing center/lab. Had blood drawn at 3pm and had results by email at 9am the next morning.

I expect to wait when I come to an urgent care and this wait was not that long. I was there for a COVID booster. The staff was friendly and helpful. The nurse was very caring and solicitous of my requests and concerns. Overall, the same kind of care I usually get when I visit this location.

Just wanted to give a five star review for this medical office. This is my second visit and I was treated with the utmost of professional care. I was even contacted twice by Dr. Yoder to see how I was doing and go over test results, something that is uncommon this day in time. Keep up the excellent job we need medical professionals like your staff!

I want to thank Matthew Justus and the staff at this clinic for helping me during my time of need. I arrived shortly before closing time with a full body itchy rash, an allergic reaction to a insect sting. Mr. Justus was was kind, competent and caring as he and the staff administered medicines and waited to see that they were working effectively. I even received a follow up call a couple of days later to make sure I was still doing okay. Thank you.

Overview of STD Testing in Charlottesville

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider regular STD testing as part of their overall health routine. This is particularly important for individuals who have multiple sexual partners, those who do not consistently use barrier methods during sex, and individuals who share injection drug equipment. According to the CDC, certain groups are at a higher risk for STDs and should get tested at least once a year. These groups include sexually active women under 25, men who have sex with men, and individuals with HIV.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is crucial to maintaining your health and the health of your sexual partners. Many STDs do not show symptoms, which means you could be infected and unknowingly transmitting the disease to others. Early detection through testing can prevent serious health complications, such as infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV infection. Moreover, knowing your STD status can help you make informed decisions about your sexual health and prevent the spread of STDs in your community.

According to the CDC, the most common STDs in the area are chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. The rates of these STDs are higher in Charlottesville compared to nearby counties such as Fayette County and Indiana County.

Risk factors related to STDs in Charlottesville

Several factors contribute to the high STD rates in Charlottesville. These include a lack of comprehensive sex education, limited access to healthcare, and social stigma associated with STD testing. Additionally, certain populations, such as young adults and men who have sex with men, are disproportionately affected by STDs.
