Urgent care
Lab testing
I’ve been having a sore throat and a low-grade fever the last couple days, and decided to go to AFC Urgent Care to determine what I was sick with. With no appointment, I checked-in and was in the back room within two hours, and walking out around 30 minutes after that with my prescriptions already sent to the pharmacy. The staff were very friendly and attentive to my needs. I never felt like a number or rushed out. Dr. Hull and the young lady who attended to me coming and going out were very kind and professional. Dr. Hull even made a follow-up call after I just left the facility, because she was concerned about my high blood pressure. She added another prescription to my original prescription order to address that concern. Overall I had a very good experience, and highly recommend this provider.

I hit the wrong time. I waited over 3 hours in the wait room. Another 30 plus minutes in the room. Due to the other afc not being open, when they were required to be open, the customers were rerouted to this afc. I was a walk-in. This meant I had to wait longer than usual. I only had sinus congestion and needed a work note. The staff was great. The doctor was great. The parenting of one of the children in the wait room was below standard. Wait time was awful but everything was of satisfactory. Thank you

This was my first ER visit at 49 years old. I was anxious about going, but could not be more pleased with my experience.   I was in and out within 4 hours, but it’s really my nurse Knox that made the experience a little less scary, a little more light hearted, and a lot more comfortable.  Thanks Knox!

Place was clean, wait time was okay considering I was first person in the building. The two staff members at the front were unprofessional. They gossiped about patients that were in the waiting room loudly. It was rude and unnecessary. Checked in patients in the wrong order, and just simply seemed like they were irritated with people coming to be seen.

Nurse practitioner was great! Listened to everything and helped quite a bit… problem was the staff. Before I left, I asked if my prescription was called in and was told “yes, it is done automatically”. Asked “was it called into the correct pharmacy” was again told “yes”. Got to the pharmacy 20 minutes later and they did not have the order. Tried calling the front desk to ask if they could please call it in… got voicemail. Waited another 20 minutes at the pharmacy just in case and nope. After 7 tries calling, gave up. Finally, went BACK to the doctor and asked for a paper copy of my prescription to give to the pharmacist. When I asked what happened I was told “my phone never rang”. Unreal… all I wanted to do was get home and rest because was not feeling well to begin with. Hopefully next time, will go a little more smoothly?

Getting tested for Tuberculosis

A tuberculosis test identifies whether or not you've ever been infected. It won't tell you whether your illness is current or latent, but it will tell you if you've had this bacterial infection before.

A tuberculosis test can be performed on the skin or in the blood. Neither test necessitates any extra preparation.

During the skin test, the TB test provider injects a small protein called PPD beneath the first layer of your skin. A positive reaction to PPD, which is generated from tuberculosis bacteria, can indicate that you have had tuberculosis. After 48 to 72 hours, the TB test provider will request that you return to the clinic so that the injection site may be thoroughly checked to confirm or rule out a positive result.

During the blood test, the TB test practitioner takes a small sample of blood from your arm with a tiny needle. Following that, your sample is sent to a lab for examination and determination of whether or not you have tuberculosis.

When you have TB symptoms, you should get a tuberculosis test. Fever, chest pain, exhaustion, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, a cough that lasts at least three weeks, and coughing up blood are all symptoms of tuberculosis.

A tuberculosis test may be ordered if you are deemed to be at high risk for tuberculosis. A weaker immune system, contact with people who have tuberculosis, or travel to a country where tuberculosis is common are all risk factors for tuberculosis. Furthermore, some employers, including healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, and people who work or volunteer at homeless shelters, require employees to receive tuberculosis tests on a regular basis.

When you take the TB skin test, a huge bump will appear on your arm at the injection site if you have had a TB infection.
