I woke up this AM with UTI sx. My insurance sent me to Tran Urgent Care. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of scheduling, the care, and the prompt care as well. I would like to see an improved patient portal experience. The provider and staff were kind and knowledgeable.

Staff member who greeted us at the door was warm and welcoming, coincidently an emergency came in behind us as she was registering us and she quickly got them addressed while also making sure we felt cared to. I didn’t see her name (wearing teal scrubs) but she was great and had amazing customer service with everyone that walked in and that was waiting in the lobby! The PA Michelle was sweet and attentive to all of our symptoms and went above and beyond to make sure it was safe for a medication to be taken for me. Thank you! Our roomer Jackie was great explaining what was happening/the process for things as well as explaining discharge paperwork when it came time. Thank you all for being there tonight!

Had a cough for three weeks- getting worse. Couldn’t get in to my dr office for five days. Urgent Care showed booked for two days, but walked in and receptionist put me on list - said I might hsve to retry the next day as there was a long waiting list. But later they called me and I was seen within 30 minutes. Both nurse and dr were good and caring, as was receptionist. Glad to get help same day. I would recommend them.

Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care is my favorite urgent care to go to. Convenient online scheduling, easy check-in process, fast wait times, concerns are addressed appropriately, friendly staff, and you're out in about an hour from start to finish. The only area that could be improved is if you have questions after your appointment, it's hard to get a hold of anyone, and then you don't get a call back. I highly recommend Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care

Easy in and easy out. I just wish there was more seats to sit on. People tend to bring a plus one and I wasn’t able to sit so I stood outside in the rain until I saw a seat open.

Walked in and was able to get on wait list. I was able to go back home and wait until they were ready for me, about 2 hours, it was very busy. Check-in is easy and you can fill out the forms online via a text. Staff and care was excellent. We’ve always had very positive experiences at this location.

Very easy to schedule appt for a same day. Was surprised by the fact that they are paperless and in order to view anything you have to download their app. It’s been 2 days and still no results, as for the medication you have to go on the appt and send it your self to the pharmacy otherwise you will not get it. Overall it was a good visit but it could have improved on some things for sure.

My granddaughter had been sick since December 19th which was 10 days. Easy schedule online and got right in when we arrived at the office. She couldn’t break the fever and was in extreme pain. She is only 3. The staff was so nice and caring with her, made her comfortable and made sure they had the correct diagnosis by asking questions and examining her thoroughly. She needed up having a sinus infection. They sent prescription right over to her pharmacy and it was ready when we got there. Amazing Care from the team.

Overview of STD Testing in Tacoma

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. Regular testing is crucial for those who identify as gay, bisexual, or men who have sex with men, as these groups are at a higher risk for certain infections. Pregnant women should also get tested, as untreated STDs can have serious health impacts for both the mother and baby. According to the CDC, it's recommended to get tested at least once a year if you're sexually active, but more frequently if you're at higher risk.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning you may not experience any symptoms but can still pass the infection to others. Early detection through testing can help prevent the spread of these diseases and can lead to more effective treatment. Furthermore, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV.

These facilities often offer same-day appointments and extended hours, making it easier to fit testing into your schedule. Indigo in Tacoma and Tran Urgent Care & Wellness Centers are two highly-rated options with friendly staff and clean facilities. You can book appointments at these locations through Solv’s website and mobile app.

Primary care providers

Your primary care provider is another good option for STD testing. They can provide you with a comprehensive sexual health assessment and guide you through the testing process. If you don't have a primary care provider, Solv can help you find one in the Tacoma area.

Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or who are underinsured, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in Tacoma. These centers often operate on a sliding fee scale, so you pay what you can afford.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option for those who prefer privacy or can't make it to a clinic. These tests can be ordered online, completed at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Tacoma

STDs are a significant public health issue in Tacoma and the broader Pierce County. According to the CDC, Pierce County has seen an increase in the prevalence of STDs over the past few years, with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis being the most common. The rates of these infections are higher than those in nearby counties like Lincoln, Sherman, and Wasco, and also exceed the national average.

Risk factors related to STDs in Tacoma

Several factors may contribute to the high prevalence of STDs in Tacoma. These include a lack of regular testing, unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and substance abuse. Socioeconomic factors such as poverty, limited access to healthcare, and inadequate sex education can also play a role. It's crucial to understand these risk factors and take preventive measures to protect your sexual health.
