Easy in and easy out. I just wish there was more seats to sit on. People tend to bring a plus one and I wasnโ€™t able to sit so I stood outside in the rain until I saw a seat open.

Showed up at the Ruston urgent care location for a walk in, learned about the crazy wait time but also the app, so I installed Solv and found that the Tacoma urgent care location has appointments available to schedule that day, where Ruston only had tomorrow. So I scheduled one just 30 minutes away, rushed to the office and the app knew I was there so I checked in, talked to the receptionist, she already had my insurance and stuff from the app scanning my card๐Ÿ‘ so she photoed my ID and told me I'd have a 45 minute wait. I was excited for this. I left and used the wait list on the app to track my position in line, and showed up, was seen pretty much right away, dental assistant was kind, put in all the info, doctor came in right away, got the antibiotics I needed immediately. Pharmacy had my prescription ready soon as I got there, within 10 minutes probably. The whole experience was pretty amazing and even though it was sudden and I was in pain, had to learn about the app and whatnot, it was so easy. Very impressed.

Friendly Staff

Very easy to schedule appt for a same day. Was surprised by the fact that they are paperless and in order to view anything you have to download their app. Itโ€™s been 2 days and still no results, as for the medication you have to go on the appt and send it your self to the pharmacy otherwise you will not get it. Overall it was a good visit but it could have improved on some things for sure.

The front desk staff and nurse were super friendly and nice. The xray machine wasn't working at this facility, which they really should let the patient know before they make an appointment.. I was seen by a nurse practitioner, Kamaal I believe. ย She seemed nice, however, she didn't seem too concerned and asked minimum questions. I don't feel like my concern was ย fully addressed/resolved. ย I should have just gone to my primary care instead of paying $100 copay only to be told, "just keep up with warm fluids and come back again if it gets worst", because it's just that easy to come back and pay another $100 copay again. I drove about 18 miles to get seen at this location because appointments at the clinic near me get booked super fast.. I mentioned that to the provider that I don't want to drive this far again just one day later..and I was told "try making an appointment a day before near you then" (because clearly, I didn't try that and chose to drive that far in snowy weather). Last time I was sick with this horrendous cough and phlegm, a provider at different location told me exactly the same that it's just a viral, only for me to end up at my primary care the next day who diagnosed me with pneumonia! I see a similar review here from another patient ending up with pneumonia because your provider here, misdiagnosed her.. I sure hope the nurse practitioner didn't miss anything.. I couldn't ask for x-ray anyway, since it wasn't working at this location. I did mention to her that last time with exact same thing, I was prescribed antibiotics and she brushed it off saying "it's just a viral".. Not sure how she decided on that when she didn't even do an xray.ย  I was not all satisfied with my treatment by this provider at this location. Multicare Indigo, you need to fix your mistakes and train your providers, instead of copy pasting the same response to all the low rating reviews. Looking at the reviews here, no wonder this location always has multiple appointments available as compare to other locations.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

No one wants to have to get a COVID test, but coming to your facility has been fantastic. Your people are great, theyโ€™re knowledgeable, you have a GREAT set-up for managing testing. And equally important your results are reliable and timely. There people are great. Combined, this all makes it so easy and seamless. I canโ€™t tell you how much we, as a family, have appreciated coming to this facility when we have to get tested. And I recommend it to others! Your team could contribute a lot toward improving COVID vaccination and booster shots! That system is broken and I wish it worked as smoothly as yours.

By far the best organized Covid test site I have been to so far. The online registration was very user friendly, staff directing flow of cars were friendly and professional, wait time was minimal, and person conducting test was quick, friendly, and kept the flow moving. Way to go! I'd also like to thank the workers for their service to the community in this high risk job!

I have Been nothing but horrified to receive a covid testing. But from the first person I talked To at this free testing facility, I knew It was going to be a comfortable and caring experience. I honestly Wish I got a few of the team mates names so I could Mention them individually, but Forgot to ask. I was Scared it was going to hurt and the man testing me was very nice and funny and made me feel very comfortable and I didnโ€™t even notice any discomfort during the test. If I, for any unfortunate reason have to get another covid test, this will be the location I will Be at. I will Recommend this location to anyone who asks about a covid test facility. Thank you so much federal way covid test center <3

- Verified patient on 8/20

The staff at the Federal Way location is the absolute best! They were very understanding of my situation and the whole experience was smooth and quick. On the other hand, the Auburn location refused to to take my appointment because I was a few minutes late due to getting lost. They informed me that they were closing; however, the federal way location told me that they shouldโ€™ve closed at a later timeโ€”1pm instead of 12:30pm. All in all, I am glad that someone was able to help me and I am extremely grateful for the staff at the federal way covid testing center.

- Verified patient on 12/24

Staff was very professional and personable to us! Wait time signs indicated a 2hrs but we only waited an hour! Drive in lanes were well established! We were routed to lane 3! Alayna and Maybel were very professional! They checked us in, in a timely manner and informed us of the testing process and how to get our results! Didnโ€™t get the fire fighter on duty at our lane but the ladies that were working lane 3 were extremely helpful and made COVID testing bearable!

Iโ€™m so grateful for the whole experience, from being able to set an appointment easily online for my husband and myself, I did not wait long at all, the staff was super friendly, noticing the blank look on my face when asked if I knew how to access the results and proceeded to gently explain, the swab was gentle too and best of all maybe, it was free. Iโ€™ll schedule any future COVID testing here in a heartbeat. Thank you.

- Verified patient on 10/14

Everything went smoothly. The signage was great, the wait time was fine. The gal giving out tissues was friendly. The man who did the swabbing was quick and efficient. He made me feel at ease. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend this site to any friends who need a Covid test. I booked my appointment online. My insurance was billed so I pay nothing.

My granddaughter is sick and was admitted to St Francis Hospital today. They tested her for Corona Virus and suggested I get tested at your facility since she lives with me, I had no symptom but wanted to get the test. I went to the Aquatics Ctr without an appt. It was a little confusing to me with filling out the forms on my phone, but I was upset and couldn't function quickly, your people were patient and treated me well. My granddaughters Covid Test was negative, so I believe my test will be negative as all of us at my home are very careful. I feel much more calm. Thank you

- Verified patient on 12/11

I was very impressed with the experience. It was really easy to sign-up and schedule the visit and the testing location was easy to find. Once at the site, the staff was extremely courteous and professional. The test was quick and painless. I received my results within 12 hours, which was way faster than any other COVID test result I've experienced thus far. Great job!!!

- Verified patient on 2/3

Attended drive-through Covid test. Despite having an appointment for 9:45, and arriving ten minutes early I still had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes before being tested. Itโ€™s frustrating, but unavoidable due to patient volume. The staff on site were capable, knowledgeable, and comforting when speaking with them. I appreciate they that they wrote their names on their disposable gowns to make them more personable.

- Verified patient on 11/20

Even though there was a long wait time, with a shortage of people to do the actual testing, the staff ran everything very efficiently and smoothly. The staff were also very polite and friendly, and everyone seemed to make the best out of a very busy testing site. I was very impressed and will go to this site again, if I need to get another covid test.

- Verified patient on 9/29

Drove up and was helpfully instructed to park the oversized vehicle and go to walk up. Followed the many, clearly marked signs to the walk up station. Helpful staff gathered my information and filled in the blanks, not knowing I needed to book an appointment. They helpfully instructed me throughout the Covid test process. Key word for all of this is, HELPFUL. I will recommend this facility to others. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 12/2

I would strongly suggest making an appointment to have the great experience I had. It delayed me going in by 1 hour. I was completely miserable with the stomach flu. The Staff greeted me immediately and I was brought back within 5 minutes. The nurse assistant immediately took my vitals and a COVID test. The Dr came in soon after and was very friendly and prescribed a anti nausea shot and the staff observed me for 15 minutes to make sure I didnโ€™t have an adverse reaction. Then they let me go with smiles and weโ€™ll wishes. It was a great experience except for the stomach flu part. I would highly recommend this location.

- Verified patient on 9/27

Used the walk-up testing center, per recommendation of a family member. It was our first nasal swab test and as great of an experience as a Covid test could be! Staff was super friendly, and informative, and walked us through the steps so we felt comfortable. We were in and out within 10 minutes and it was easy to schedule ahead of time online. We will definitely be recommending it to other family and friends and coming back again to this location next time we are going to get tested.

- Verified patient on 12/25

At the start of the Covid testing, I wondered if the sites would be ready for the numbers of testings to be done. They have done remarkably well. They have maintained a level of caring and professional integrity that I think is applicable to all Medical Care Providers in this state. I worked for 14 of 42 years in Nursing in this state. I thank all of those who planned these testing sites, the Police Professionals, those who guided us to the correct directions to the sites, and those who cleaned, emptied garbage and worked or volunteered in any capacity. Thanks to all of the cities, where the sites are located. If I left anyone out, please forgive me. All of you are appreciated.

Excellent service every time! As Iโ€™m dealing with a type of cancer, I have to visit the docs often and a negative Covid test is required. Many of the staff know me on site several of them know me by name and they work hard to get me in and through the line quickly! Always friendly always courteous always professional and I always appreciate them!!! Thank you for the great service!

- Verified patient on 4/19

I was throughly impressed by how organized and friendly the staff was! It was my first time getting a COVID test so I was nervous, but I was greeted so kindly and was given a simple and clear explanation on the process. The staff was incredibly nice and I felt comfortable the entire time. The website used to make the appointment was very easy to use. One recommendation to the website would be to allow the user to mark multiple options under the "race" category :). Also, everytime you refresh the page, there would be different time slots available each time. I don't know if this was a glitch, or people just cancelling their appointments a lot though.

- Verified patient on 1/2

Even in these times, during the circumstances we deal with, under otherwise such duress and uncertainty, it comes as no surprise that Franciscan meets the high standards of addressing COVID-19 set by Washington State. This was my very first COVID test. I approached the test and very well organized testing site with a certain level of apprehension and reluctance. Because of the professionalism and courtesy of the entire team from intake to testing and follow-up, I left the site with appreciation and confidence. My experience has been awesome from start to finish and I hope this team knows how great they are. Thanks team!!

- Verified patient on 10/23

The person that did my covid test was the best! This was the third time I have had a test and by far the best. He had me hold the tube while he swabbed my nose and went from one nostril to the other without a break. This really helped so there was no time to contemplate or think of the discomfort. His technique was awesome!

- Verified patient on 12/6

This testing site was professional, painless and expeditious. I was thoroughly impressed with the staff and their quality of care. I would highly recommend this location to anyone needing a covid test. I provided my insurance information and was not charged for the test at the time of service. I booked online and it was incredibly easy to get an appointment. I had zero wait time upon arrival. Everything was exceptionally smooth and convenient.

Federal Way COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Federal Way?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Federal Way?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Federal Way-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Federal Way?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Federal Way including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Federal Way?

Rapid testingโ€”both PCR (molecular) and antigen testsโ€”is offered through many Federal Way-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Federal Way?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Federal Way are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a โ€œBook Onlineโ€ button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating โ€œCOVID-19 Testโ€ as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Federal Way?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1โ€“3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy timesโ€”particularly around holidaysโ€”testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Federal Way?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
