I really hate it when practitioners practice on you and hope they get it right and if they don’t, they just send you away with a pill.

Easy in and easy out. I just wish there was more seats to sit on. People tend to bring a plus one and I wasn’t able to sit so I stood outside in the rain until I saw a seat open.

Two days ago I woke with some stinging with urination. The next 24 hours the stinging and burning got increasingly worse, and I started having lower abdominal pain with frequent urination, blood in my urine, and pain with walking/sitting. I was able to schedule the online visit and the intake nurse and NP were incredibly kind and empathetic to my symptoms. Peridium is amazing and after, nearly, 24 hours I am starting to feel better. Thank you

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

This is by far the best testing experience I've ever had. Luckily I've only had to deal with covid testing 3 times, but this was by far the best experience. From arrival to finish, the whole thing took roughly 5 minutes. I took a drive thru test at a rite aid that took nearly a half hour so this was much more organized and efficient.

Fabulous experience with making appointments and receiving COVID test for our family of three that includes our adult son with disabilities. They were professional, kind and caring. They also allowed us to get boosters at the same time. We hadn't known this was available and didn't have appointments. But there was not line, so it worked out great. We have already told friends about how great our experience was. Thank you!

This is my one and only place to get my family’s covid test. The wait time is super short when I book online. The staff are very friendly and always attentive. They showed empathy when we showed up after a funeral. Excellent work attitude!!! They love what they are doing and morale is high. Keep it up!!!

It is amazing that the address for the Covid Testing is listed wrong in several places. And that the staff knows that but it is still not corrected. We almost gave up trying to find the correct location because at the 701 Thomas Ave SW Renton address (the address given in the appt confirmation emails, the website, & the text sent to me), there was only an empty building & a fence. Other people were driving around, back & forth, trying to find the testing location. When we were leaving the ACTUAL testing address/location, I walked over to the street corner at Thomas & 7th and set up the sandwich board sign that was laying on the ground. There was only a covid testing sign on one side of that sign, but better than nothing. No one seemed to care that the address was completely wrong for days. Poor organization and/or poor management.

Covid testing for yourself let alone your child is never a fun time but I have had to have my 2.5yr old son tested twice now. Both times at this same location. Both times the tester was very sweet and gentle with him. Making him feel safe and comfortable. A potentially very scary and stressful situation for him (and me) made easy and quick! Much appreciated!

My experience with this company was at the drive thru Covid testing and vaccination site, in Renton, WA. I used this facility 3 times for a Covid test and once to get a Vaccination booster. It was so quick and easy, especially if you fill out the information they need online, before you go there. Everyone there was great!

I was not able to get my Covid test through Walgreens due to a paperwork discrepancy (spelling of last name did not match for some reason). I then turned to this testing site and asked how to make an appointment. The lady directing traffic said I could check to see if there were still appointments available today and there were! I got my information in very quickly and I was put into line with zero waiting time. It was quick and easy and I will probably go here instead of Walgreens next time if needed. Hopefully it’s not needed though!

Drive up Covid testing in Renton. I did not have a appointment, however with the help of the staff I was able to register online at get the test done. My only issue was using my IPhone. I am old and slow. All went well after that. Tested negative. Wish there was another option to drive up registration. Thanks

The sign on the road is confusing. It says to keep the right lane for Covid testing. which makes one believe must take right. At the end of this new road there is a sign indicating COVID testing in the opposite direction. Staff was friendly and patiently listened to concerns. I was accepted even though I was a few minutes late due to confusion created by the sign on the road.

The facility is great but the staff seem to be lacking in personality. No one smiled and no one seem to be actively engaged in what they were doing. Very detached, and maybe that is how they were trained. What would be helpful is if those of us applying to receive a covid test were told upfront that we would be self-administering the test. I was taking aback when I drove into the final test site and was given the swab and told that I needed to administer the test to myself.

This was my first time getting a Covid test. I didn't know what to expect and I was a bit nervous. It was easy. Minimal wait. I wish the turnaround for the results was faster as I have symptoms and Christmas is only 3 days away. But, it is what it is. I have my fingers crossed that my family's Christmas isn't totally messed up.

I got a covid test a few months ago at a different facility and was dreading my test today because it was so bad. Today was the complete opposite of my last test. I waited 4 minutes total versus 5 hours, the staff was so friendly, and I really liked how separated we all were. Also the self-administered test was so easy and pain-free unlike the last one that I got. I'd recommend this location to anybody. THANK YOU!

I really do appreciate the staff that run the COVID testing site in Renton. I’m a 3rd grade teacher and because one of my students was reported positive the whole class went home this morning. Back to distance learning. The testing staff was very cordial helping me maintain a sense of calm. Thank you so much for your attention to eliminating this most undesirable condition.

Excellent experience. The drive through Covid test in Renton was easy to make an appointment and find it. Set up was in a closed emissions testing site. Very efficient. Staff was very kind, explained everything very well. Put our young sick child at ease. We had an appointment at 6:15pm and got our test results by midnight! This was great because it was negative and our child could attend school the next day. Thank you for using a 24/7 testing lab. Hopefully we won't need to be tested again but if we do we will go to this facility and have already recommended it to other folks!

My first covid test and this was such an easy experience! There was a line but it moved quickly, the staff was very well organized, friendly and so helpful!! Definitely calmed my nerves and made a stressful event easy and smooth. I got my results in less than 24 hours, communication was amazing! Thank you!

You have a very competent, logistically sound COVID testing drive-up facility in Renton, WA. I was impressed by the personnel running it and the speed of the process. I was also pleased to hear that the same facility is offering the vaccine. I won't be using it for myself as I will receive mine through the VA, but I know I will recommend it to others.

I was able to schedule a same-day appointment for the drive thru COVID testing in Renton. I arrived early to my appointment, checked in and was able to complete my test within 10min! The staff was friendly and very professional. I definitely would recommend it for anyone who need/want testing. Make sure to schedule an appointment though!

- Verified patient on 12/9

I purposely scheduled one of the last appointment times offered online. I arrived minutes early, before my 6:12pm appointment time. The traffic cones were blocking the entrance and the testing station was closed. Fortunately, I persuaded the staff who were there to do my test. My appointment time had not passed and it was important for my international travel requirements to have the test done on Saturday. The testing sites are closed on Sunday. I am flying out to Africa on Monday. I am an RN and have done Covid testing myself. I know it is a temptation to close the station before closing time when the patients are not arriving. However, it is so important for the workers to honor the operating hours and keep the station open until the last appt. time has come and gone. Thank you for your service. I hope you will consider my feedback.

My son's appt was set for the day after and my daughters appt didn't ever set but with that being said they still got both of my kids in to get a covid test. Also my daughter was scared the test was going to hurt and she started crying. The very nice young gentleman did the test to himself first just to show my daughter that it was okay and that it wouldn't hurt. He really made her feel comfortable and for that reason alone I will always go with health point. Thank you!

This is in reference to covid testing through Health Point CHC on SW 10th St. in Renton, WA. Was very pleasantly surprised at the short wait times; had to test twice, a week apart, and both times the professionalism & politeness of the staff manning the site was above & beyond what I was expecting. I was even wished a good day as I drove off. When you're sick, every little bit of kindness helps!

Renton COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Renton?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Renton?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Renton-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Renton?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Renton including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Renton?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Renton-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Renton?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Renton are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Renton?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Renton?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
