The staff at MultiCare Indigo clinic, in Issaquah, are incredible! In such a dire time the team at Indigo came to my rescue. They worked with haste and fought for my well being. I'm so grateful for all the hoops they help me jump through. I am greatly appreciative for their service to our community. Thank you!

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

Although the wait was a bit longer than I thought it would even with an appointment, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made getting a COVID test way less stressful. From the moment I pulled in to the moment I left the parking lot, every staff member I interacted with was nice and even funny.

Very organized and efficient process. I did my paperwork in advance online. The procedure itself was very painful. Felt like it was an attempt at a brain swab instead of nasal swab with the extent swab was inserted and rotated. Nothing like I have experienced for pre-procedure covid tests. Glad it was quick and done though. Thank you!

- Verified patient on 11/25

This was my first Covid test, and my experience could not be improved! I arrived early, but was allowed to be tested, as there weren’t too many before me. Signing up online was a cinch, and those who cared for me were just great. The directions for getting the test results were clear and simple. It all was a great and convenient process! I would recommend them to anyone! Thanks for the great care!

I had made a mistake (curse auto fill!) when making a reservation and the staff were very accommodating about it from the get go. They were, without exception, very nice, and several of them were extremely encouraging after they detected some nervousness on our part. If you have to have a Covid test, I highly recommend this site.

- Verified patient on 10/30

They were friendly, they were funny, they were quick, they were caring! This was literally the best, least painful, and I might even add most fun time I’ve had at a Covid test! The staff are great! I know it sounds weird to me too but overall it was painless and the staff was very safe and clean while still making the experience great! Thank you!

- Verified patient on 9/16

This was my second Covid test, this was more intense than the last. I know the process is not ideal, I cried and can only say... That's rough. I might recommend letting people know that before they punch your brain with a q tip. Just some food for thought. All the best, may *** be the year we hoped *** would be.

- Verified patient on 11/19

Everyone at this testing site was very friendly ~ I was a little anxious as this was my 1st covid test. The competency of the staff, immediately erased my fear. The sign up process was easy and the turn around time of the test was amazing... had results less than 12 hours after test ~ grateful to have such a dedicated team working to keep us safe!!!

- Verified patient on 8/27

Walk-in, no appointment. Waited outside the tent a bit for 2 people in a group of 3 ahead of me but it was pretty quick. Staff checked my name spelling several times. Check-in staff asked for reason to visit and asked for ID unlike the staff at my first time tested at this same location whom did not ask for ID or reason other than name and phone number. Swabber told will swab for 10 seconds each nostril unlike the first visit too. Overall it’s an improvement (although no line at all for walk-in during last visits). I’m also working at a COVID testing pop-up tent so I understand the routine and challenges all staff on site may have to perform and face regularly. Just hope to reflect my experience honestly as this testing service is important. Very appreciate all the services and big thanks to all staff on site, in the lab and others behind the scene! :)

Everyone was so kind despite the fact that these workers probably have to come into contact to Covid several times a day. They were all doing such a good job. Thank you! Also shoutout to the traffic officer who made my day with that dad joke he told me while I was getting in line. I laughed so hard, was not expecting that at a Covid test site.

- Verified patient on 8/5

Very covid protective protective gear, nothing ever beats getting something free, they acknowledged very quickly when it hurt going so far up in my nostrils and gave me time to recooperate without me having to ask. Every concern and question I had about any of the process they answered with ease so I knew they were very knowledgeable about the work they were doing. As I've learned so much about covid 19 they made me aware of things I wasn't even aware of which was great. Each person I dealt with were so kind and considerate. When it comes to most people it doesn't even register how much the small talk or a crack of a joke with a patient goes along way when it comes to patient care and can turn there whole experience into something they thought wasn't going to be anything fun or feel friendly with others but they excelled in this tukwila location in every single step of the process. If I had time to get all there names they deserve to be recognized as great, caring, understanding, and down to earth people. I've had to get tested for covid five times now before each procedure at the hospital and this tukwila location covid testing site by far is the best of the best. I love meeting people that I can easily tell they like helping others and want to do there best to help you. One thumb up for being free testing then the second thumb up for every single person at this location were top notch. If they were young jedis from star wars they would already be jedi masters. Thank you again. I could keep going on and on how great this experience was but I think anyone who reads this will understand how great the experience was and now I will drive past others if needed to get tested again just for the people helping their. Thank you. God bless.

First time taking a Covid test in this area. They were quick to check us in, explained everything before they gave it to us (paperwork, how to get results, the type of tests they performed, how long the wait for results would be, and how the test were done). They were very friendly and quick about it, the visit took probably five minutes at most!

- Verified patient on 8/20

Went for a casual COVID test (no symptoms). Everything was spectacular from booking the appointment throughout arriving and testing. Everyone that I encountered greeted me with a smile; something I feel to be of huge detriment given these trying times. I extend my utmost regards to everyone. This was quite a smooth experience and I'm highly impressed.

It was really easy even though it was my first time having COVID test. I used hear people complaining about the cotton swab or the cotton tip. The staff were really nice and kind. Also they done very quick. I would recommend friends and family to go there and get their test done.

- Verified patient on 6/25

The covid test itself was horrible but the staff were great and did their best to make the experience more pleasant. They were quick and organized, and funny too. If I had to get another test again (which i will try my best not to have to do ever again) i would definitely come back here.

Excellent! I split time between the Pacific Northwest and Southern California for work. It is soo hard to get a covid test in Southern California STILL!! My fiancé is still waiting for her results from a test taken 5 days ago. I appreciate how quick and easy this testing site is. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

- Verified patient on 2/18

The office was spotless. The staff was nice but the CNA said she had to scrape the inside of each of my nostrils 10 times each side in order to get a proper sample for a covid test. Ten times! And it hurt so bad I cried. I had the test once before a year ago and it didn’t take 10 swabs. Maybe she needs go over how to administer the test again. And maybe someone should swab each of her nostrils that far back 10 times so she can tell how bad that feels!

- Verified patient on 4/19

This place was amazing! My son was a bit scared to get his first ever Covid test done but the gentleman who did the swab explained everything very well and I saw the joy on my sons face instantly! Thank you everything went smoothly. I definitely recommend this place! Check in process ran smoothly.

The people who work here at this drive-through Covid testing site are truly special. They are genuine, caring and the real deal. When we drove up the parking security director made jokes and laughed with us, and was so friendly and helpful. The rest of staff same same. In a world where it seems like so many don’t care, these people really do.bravo!!

- Verified patient on 9/4

The staff was welcoming, efficient, and very accommodating. This was my first time ever being tested. They made the process effortless and me feel at ease, especially when I was administered the covid test. The staff patiently walked me through every step. Thank you for providing such a caring staff to serve the community.

- Verified patient on 10/9

I had never gotten a COVID test before but I was glad to go here. Even though I was very early for my appointment, they still took me right away. I was checked in and told where to go and what to do. The person who took my swab walked me through the process. If I ever need a test again, I’ll go to the Church by the Side of the Road.

Tukwila COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Tukwila?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Tukwila?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Tukwila-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Tukwila?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Tukwila including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Tukwila?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Tukwila-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Tukwila?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Tukwila are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Tukwila?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Tukwila?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
