I had occasion to see Dr. Amy Parker twice in the last couple of weeks, and have nothing but good things to say. She was thorough, sent me for the correct tests to make a diagnosis, referred me to an excellent specialist and made follow up calls to see how I was doing. The whole staff was professional and attentive.

We are from suburban Philadelphia and were visiting our son and his family when my husband’s “cold” became markedly worse. The nurse Megan and the Nurse Practitioner Donna were wonderful to us. They quickly assessed my husband’s conditon, had a chest xray done, and prescribed the appropriate medicine and care for what turned out to be pneumonia. The entire visit to this facility was favorable, from the ease of check-in to the friendliness of the xray tech. Although no one likes being sick “on vacation”, this was a good experience for us.

Overview of STD Testing in South Portland

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, particularly those who have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. It's important to remember that many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning you may not show any symptoms but can still transmit the disease. Regular testing is crucial for those in high-risk groups, such as men who have sex with men, individuals with HIV, and those who have been forced to have intercourse or engage in sexual activity against their will.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical part of maintaining your overall health. According to the CDC, undiagnosed and untreated STDs can lead to serious long-term health consequences, including infertility, cancer, and increased risk of HIV. Regular testing allows for early detection and treatment, reducing the risk of complications and preventing the spread of STDs to others.
