Felt like I had a Blood sugar problem. Levels were a little high a few days before blood test . Wanted to check it again two days later and they weee up a little bit more . Previous doctors did not mention A1C The provider acutely explained blood sugar can go up and down it’s the A1C that’s important to watch and monitor if you are diabetic. She was so amazing I can’t remember her name. I was not eating or taking care of myself as k r should. Had a scare at the hospital a few days before and it’s time to make some life changes to get better and live more healthy.I this they do a fantastic job at Cliffside urgent care the level of service is outstanding. I always go there when I need medical help.

It’s always a pleasure to schedule appointments on the Solv app or as a walk-in. The check in is lengthy but that’s to be expected. After that check in is a breeze and waiting time is not long at all. The staff is always friendly and care from the providers is thorough and efficient. I would recommend AFC for family oriented care.

I have been to this facility a few times when I have had to take my child in times when her Pediatrician was away. They have taken care of her and even given me a referral so that I may take her to a specialist to further evaluate her. It's not very far from my home at all. I'm glad they are also available after my child gets out of school, since her pediatrican's last appt. is at 3:30, I have time to go to Metro-UrgiCare and feel reassured.

Recent COVID-19 Testing Reviews (20)

My son was offered both the Rapid and PCR Covid tests. He did both, and we had results from the Rapid one within 15 minutes. Total time from arrival at the clinic until the Rapid test results was only about 35 minutes.

- Verified patient on 11/15

First Covid test I walked in and waited an hour. This time around I made an appointment and was taken within 3 minutes of the appointment time. Front desk staff is not the friendliest (pre and post Covid) they will ignore you until you make it known you are not going away. The doctors/PA/nurses in the back are great.

- Verified patient on 3/3

Unfortunately, had to give 3 stars due to wait for Covid test. I know there were a lot of walk-ins that day just for C19 test but we waited a good 2hrs+ to get tested and we were told it was about 1.5hrs wait.

- Verified patient on 9/5

I went in for a Covid test and the young lady who was about to administer the test alerted the Dr. To an issue I was having. So glad she did. I have a primary doctor, but feel really comfortable going here.

- Verified patient on 12/23

Came for a COVID test and was seen very quickly. I got both tests and was amazed at how quickly he did the rapid test. Now waiting for the PCR. Thanks for seeing me on short notice at night!

- Verified patient on 11/1

I had a really positive experience at this clinic. I had driven around all day trying to find somewhere to provide Covid Testing. When I finally came here I was met with friendly and understanding staff and efficient services. I was in and out within 30 minutes as a walk in.

- Verified patient on 11/27

Even though there was a long wait for a covid test, I appreciated that we were able to go in and put names down, go back home, and then receive a message to return to the office when alerted. The staff was very efficient and knew to put my husband and me together. I appreciate the office was open on Labor Day and still late into the night!!

- Verified patient on 9/9

Fast, efficient, professional service. The woman at the front desk didn’t get her name unfortunately but she was so kind and helpful. We waited in our car not even 5 minutes and we got a text message to come in! Super fast. The young lady that performed our COVID tests was very professional and efficient. We are totally satisfied with the service, location, measures taken for our protection. Recommended place 100%

- Verified patient on 9/4

Although the wait time was extremely long for covid testing, the staff were very patient and kind. I witnessed a few people come into building with very impatient and unkind demeanor...but the staff remind professional. I would absolutely recommend this site to others.

- Verified patient on 12/20

I cannot obtain CoVid test results on the MyQuest account app because something with info supposedly does not match. This is the only frustrating part of the service. I could have received the results much sooner if this discrepancy between the app MyQuest and the lab results had been clear. I’m not sure how to sync them. Otherwise I was glad to be able to walk in and wait for a test. Thank you.

- Verified patient on 8/24

I just wanted a covid test. The process was new tome but easy to follow. I didn't have to wait inside but was called 2 -3 hours later and just went in when they were ready for me.

- Verified patient on 9/5

Everyone was great. It was very clean and safe inside. By the time I finished my paperwork, I got called to do my test. The young lady who did my Covid test was amazing, she made me feel at ease.

- Verified patient on 12/4

It is a very convenient place to go to. The staff is very friendly and caring. However they should have a better system for those coming in only for CoVid testing. They should dedicated one room out of the eight rooms they have for CoVid testing. It will make it so much easier for those just getting tested to walk in and out just in case the person is positive it will be a lower risk for patients waiting to contract the virus. The wait time to be seen is 1 hour to 1 hour and a half which is an excessive wait time for those just getting tested only for CoVId.

- Verified patient on 8/29

I was not in a traditional facility, but in a temporary Covid testing site. The staff were very professional and courteous. I had no wait time and was out the door before my scheduled appointment time.

- Verified patient on 1/16

Went in for Covid test. The staff was very friendly and super efficient. I was in and out in less than 20 mins. Malcom had excellent bedside manners. I would recommend this location for it's friendly and efficient staff.

- Verified patient on 7/12

Wait time was long (1 hour) despite having made an appointment online a couple days in advance, but I think that’s understandable given our current situation. Brandon helped me with my COVID testing. He was very kind, explained the difference between rapid and regular PCR testing, and explained the follow up process. Thank you Brandon!!

- Verified patient on 11/17

Came in for Covid testing. Super convenient and easy. Waited about 20 min. Test itself took no more than 2-3 minutes. Employees were courteous and pleasant. This will be my go to place for any future testing. Hours are also great.

- Verified patient on 2/5

Made an appt for a rapid covid test, waited in my car until they were ready for me. Once inside, I had to wait an additional 20-30 mins to be seen, which I feel was not THAT long considering the amount of people trying to get tested. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, great bedside manner. Had my results by phone within a half hour as promised by the same person who did my actual swab. Ideally, one should book an appointment on their website in advance- makes the process so much easier!

- Verified patient on 12/4

The wait time was longer than I’d like for a rapid covid test. However, I understand I went on a Sunday afternoon during a very demanding time for rapid results, so I can’t necessarily blame the staff. They were very friendly.

- Verified patient on 8/30

Even though I had a confirmed appt time I was seen after a 40 min wait. i was there for Covid testing. It was understandable due to too many patients. There were two female patients that walked in at 9pm and bitterly complained of having to wait for their Covid testing. One of the ladies stated that she cant wait long and wanted to see manager. She left her young kids at home and needed to go home asap. They were using foul words. Very low class citizens. The employee at the desk kept her calm and professionalism. Kudos to her. This took place on 10/17/20 @ 9pm.

Bergenfield COVID Testing & Rapid Testing

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive.

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department.

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity. Antigen tests are also known as rapid tests and have an average turnaround time of between 15 to 30 minutes.

Both PCR and rapid COVID tests can be used to test people exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, those who were close contacts to COVID-19, and those without COVID-19 symptoms who live or work in a high-risk setting (such as a nursing facility); or those individuals who are identified as part of outbreak detection and response. The rapid COVID test is also recommended for the screening of residents or healthcare workers at skilled nursing facilities along with a PCR confirmation, and for repeat screening for the early detection and prevention of outbreaks in congregate settings (such as schools, workplaces, and prisons).

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. To reduce the risk of facing extra costs related to COVID testing, ask your primary care doctor to recommend a free COVID test site, and confirm there are no charges or fees for the test that are not covered by your insurance plan. Additionally, avoid getting a COVID test at a hospital or free-standing emergency room, as these facilities may charge fees for COVID testing and related services.

COVID-19 Testing FAQs

  • How much does COVID testing cost in Bergenfield?

In many cases, COVID testing can be free. Many state and local health departments continue to offer free testing to community residents as part of their response to the pandemic. In other cases, commercially insured patients, or those on Medicare or Medicaid, may receive testing at no out of pocket cost, or with a nominal office visit copay. For cash paying patients, or those that need rapid COVID testing which will deliver results in under an hour, COVID tests can range from $50 to $150 each. It is best to call your healthcare provider prior to getting tested to better understand the cost of the specific test you require.

  • Where can I get free COVID testing in Bergenfield?

COVID testing is available for free under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which includes testing for those without health insurance. Check with your Bergenfield-area health department as they are generally a good source for free COVID tests, or can at least point you in the right direction. Additionally, you can ask your primary care provider to recommend a free COVID test site.

  • Where can I get COVID testing in Bergenfield?

COVID testing is available at many outlets near Bergenfield including urgent care centers, retail clinics, primary care offices, health departments, and more. Different venues will have different types of tests available, many at different price points. Some testing sites are allowing walk-in patients, however, many are still requiring some degree of advance booking to control patient volume.

  • Where can I get a rapid COVID test in Bergenfield?

Rapid testing—both PCR (molecular) and antigen tests—is offered through many Bergenfield-area urgent care centers and physician offices, usually at an additional cost ranging from $50 up to $150 per test. Usually this will allow you to get results back in under an hour, and require advanced booking through the provider. However, if you can wait 24 hours for your results, many labs are turning around send-out lab tests in that time frame, which could save you some money.

  • How to make an appointment for COVID testing in Bergenfield?

Same-day and next day appointments for COVID testing in Bergenfield are bookable directly through Solv. Simply browse the list of healthcare providers conducting COVID tests above, find one with a “Book Online” button, and book a time that aligns with your schedule stating “COVID-19 Test” as your reason for visit.

  • Can I get tested for antibodies if I am sick with COVID-19 Bergenfield?

An antibody test for COVID-19 might inform you if you previously had a coronavirus infection. Because it can take between 1–3 weeks after an infection for your body to develop these antibodies, an antibody test during an active infection would not be successful. To see if you are currently infected, you need a viral test.

  • Do I need a COVID test if I have been vaccinated?

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, experts believe that you should be tested yourself, particularly if you are experiencing cold and flu symptoms commonly aligned with the coronavirus.

  • How long does COVID testing take?

Getting a COVID test is quick. Most tests are done with a nasal swab, which takes less than a minute to swab both nostrils. Depending on where you get your COVID test, this means you could be in and out of the testing site in as little as 10-15 minutes. During busy times—particularly around holidays—testing sites may be busier than usual and wait times may be longer.

  • How long does it take to get COVID test results in Bergenfield?

Most labs are returning send-out molecular (PCR) COVID test results within 24-48 hours of the test. Some sites take longer, so call and ask if the reason for the test is proof for travel. Rapid COVID tests are processed on-site and are able to deliver results in under an hour, sometimes in as little as 15 min.

  • Do COVID tests detect the Delta variant and Omicron variant?

Regular COVID tests are able to detect both the Delta variant and Omicron variant in that they can determine whether or not you have the coronavirus. However, they can't tell which variation is involved. That would necessitate genomic sequencing, which is a different process from regular virus testing that not all labs can undertake. Sequencing is uncommon and can cost up to $100 per test. Since the treatment is the same for any variant, it is not clinically useful to an individual patient to know whether the infection was caused by a variant or not.
