Scheduling was easy via Solv, but no coordination between Solv and the office resulted in multiple duplicate bookings and unacceptable wait time.  2:30 appointment confirmed by Solv, actual check-in 4:55.  Staff was friendly and courteous, but front desk staff was overwhelmed.  Provider and staff were prompt once I was checked in and appointment was quick and efficient.  Care and bedside manner were top notch.

Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care is my favorite urgent care to go to. Convenient online scheduling, easy check-in process, fast wait times, concerns are addressed appropriately, friendly staff, and you're out in about an hour from start to finish. The only area that could be improved is if you have questions after your appointment, it's hard to get a hold of anyone, and then you don't get a call back. I highly recommend Mary Bridge Children's Urgent Care

So convenient to go on the phone app and find an appointment! Got in early and I don't think I waited 5 minutes before I was taken back. Was in and out in probably 15 minutes or less with a prescription sent to my Pharmacy.

Ran out of prescription meds 2 weeks before my new Primary Care Physician appointment. Went to Indigo Urgent care for help. Stellar staff particularly Medical Assistant Meghan. Walk-in wait time of 1-2 hours turned out to be 20 minutes. Dr. Calvin Yi was super friendly and took great care of me. Wonderful experience! Super grateful and I highly recommend.

Overview of STD Testing in Tacoma

Who should get tested for STDs?

Anyone who is sexually active should consider getting tested for STDs, especially if they have multiple partners or engage in unprotected sex. Regular testing is crucial for those who identify as gay, bisexual, or men who have sex with men, as these groups are at a higher risk for certain infections. Pregnant women should also get tested, as untreated STDs can have serious health impacts for both the mother and baby. According to the CDC, it's recommended to get tested at least once a year if you're sexually active, but more frequently if you're at higher risk.

Importance of getting tested

Getting tested for STDs is a critical part of maintaining your overall health. Many STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning you may not experience any symptoms but can still pass the infection to others. Early detection through testing can help prevent the spread of these diseases and can lead to more effective treatment. Furthermore, untreated STDs can lead to serious health complications, including infertility, certain types of cancer, and increased risk of HIV.

These facilities often offer same-day appointments and extended hours, making it easier to fit testing into your schedule. Free STD testing and community health centers

For those without insurance or who are underinsured, free STD testing may be available at community health centers in Tacoma. These centers often operate on a sliding fee scale, so you pay what you can afford.

At-home testing

At-home STD testing is another option for those who prefer privacy or can't make it to a clinic. These tests can be ordered online, completed at home, and sent back to a lab for analysis. Results are usually available within a few days.

Prevalence of STDs in Tacoma

STDs are a significant public health issue in Tacoma and the broader Pierce County. According to the CDC, Pierce County has seen an increase in the prevalence of STDs over the past few years, with chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis being the most common. The rates of these infections are higher than those in nearby counties like Lincoln, Sherman, and Wasco, and also exceed the national average.

Risk factors related to STDs in Tacoma

Several factors may contribute to the high prevalence of STDs in Tacoma. These include a lack of regular testing, unprotected sex, multiple sexual partners, and substance abuse. Socioeconomic factors such as poverty, limited access to healthcare, and inadequate sex education can also play a role. It's crucial to understand these risk factors and take preventive measures to protect your sexual health.
