I came in kinda late in the evening with chest pain and what I thought was gerd. I was checked in real quick and didn't wait but maybe 5-7 minutes before being called back. The nurse was SOOOOOOOOOO sweet!!! And then about 2 or 3 minutes after the nurse left, that Sweet doctor came in. She asked a few questions and went to see about an EKG. Their machine was still down. So she sent me to the ED for the EKG. Everyone is always SOOOOOOOOOO nice!! The sweetest doctors and nurses I've ever met!! I tell anyone that asks me about a good clinic to go to, to go see the amazing people at the OUCH! CLINIC!!!😀😀 They're the best!!!

My name is Christina Joyner I am the owner and the nurse practitioner at Marshall Urgemt Care. I wanted to write-in response to lady that stated her daughter was turned away. First, I am truly sorry that you were disrespected in any form or fashion by any of my staff. If I knew who it was, I can promise you it would be addressed. Disrespect on any level is not tolerated. Second, I'm so truly sorry your precious daughter was turned away. I am normally the only practitioner in the office. I see as many patients as I possibly can. I do have to turn people away, but it's because I just can't see them all. I do not have a limit of 30 a day. I don't feel that is right. So my mission and goal everyday is to see as many as I can and still provide thorough and adequate care without putting anyone at risk. I struggle every day with turning people away because I'm not in it for the money. If I was, I would take everybody and see them and not worry about providing adequate and thorough care. Need more staff. Should have at least a practitioner, front desk person, and nurse. Using the front desk person to conduct admin and then do vitals, and help with running labs is not efficient. Using the NP to see patients and helping with labs is not efficient. A nurse should be doing vitals, running labs, conducting Covid test, etc. The staff did a great job and were very professional. They are just stretched too thin. The official “check-in” time is not the same as the “arrival” time. We sat in the waiting room for over an hour before our official “check-in” time.

I came In cause i am sick but had to pay $50 for covid test that was negative and then told it's 60 to 70 percent accurate when I knew it was a cold I had then she refused to give me a steroid shot. If the test is not that accurate then don't offer them or make us pay for them. We go to the doctor to feel better not to get changed for all your testing and you tell me to buy over the counter medication if I would have known all this I would have went somewhere else and felt like they wanted to make me well not make me pay for covid , flu and office visit and tell me to buy over the counter medicine.

The only thing I didn’t like when a nurse told me she was going to give a COVID test and flu.I know didn’t have COVID it have do with my chest and throat and face feeling it swelling up. The wait was long but understandable. We were there for a Covid test, as were several people ahead of us. The receptionist out front (Tonya) was very sweet and helpful. The nurse practitioner that I saw was really nice and outgoing. She did a very good job and gave me some tips on what to get for my knee while I am awaiting a partial replacement. I think her name was K Coggins. At least she was the one that filled out the paperwork. I will recommend urgent team to my friends.

Types of COVID Tests

There are two types of coronavirus tests (COVID-19 tests) available, those that can test for a current infection (viral test) and those that can test for a past infection (antibody test).

Viral COVID testing can be done in a few different ways, the most common being nose swabs, but saliva tests are becoming more popular. Some tests are processed out on-site and can provide results in as little as 30 minutes. These are called rapid COVID tests. The majority of tests, on the other hand, are collected at the clinic on-site and then submitted to off-site labs for processing. Results can take up to 2-3 days to arrive. 

Antibody testing looks for a past infection and may not reveal if you have an active COVID-19 infection because antibodies can take up to three weeks to form in your body. The presence of COVID antibodies may help to prevent you from becoming infected with the same virus again; but, because the clinical understanding of COVID-19 is still developing, it's unclear how long that protection will continue.

Who should get tested for current infection

The CDC currently defines four instances where COVID testing is recommended:

  1. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  2. If you have been in close contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. If you have been vaccinated, or tested positive in the past 3 months and not experiencing symptoms, you do not need to be tested.
  3. If you are unvaccinated and participated in high-risk activities where distancing is not an option. This could include travel, large social or mass gatherings, crowded indoor settings, etc.
  4. If you have been referred to get a COVID test by your healthcare provider or local health department. 

How is testing done for COVID-19?

Most COVID tests are collected by a nasal swab. A member of the medical team puts a swab inside your nose for a few seconds on each side to collect the sample. After that, the samples are packaged according to CDC guidelines and tested on-site or transported to a facility for testing. The lab will test samples for the presence of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID infection and either your care provider or the lab will notify you with the results as soon as they are available.

PCR vs Antigen Testing

Viral COVID tests are available as molecular and antigen tests. The molecular test, also known as a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test, usually delivers results within a few days since most of these tests are sent to offsite labs for analysis. The average turnaround time for PCR test results is 48 hours, but in some instances may be significantly longer due to backlogs related to insufficient lab volume and capacity.
